I provide meteorological support and weather routing for selected yacht deliveries.
As my professional schedule does not always allow me to join an entire passage, this support is usually offered from shore. The focus is on a calm, independent and analytical outside perspective that gives the crew orientation and situational clarity while underway.
Whenever feasible – particularly on more demanding sections of a passage – I am also available to join on board to provide additional support.
Scope of Support
My work includes:
- continuous monitoring of the synoptic situation
- analysis of local effects along the planned route
- assessment of wind, sea state, swell and currents
- identification of favourable weather windows
- evaluation of critical developments (fronts, swell rotation, squalls)
- suggestions for day and night routing
- regular, concise updates at intervals that are defined individually for each passage
All recommendations are provided as guidance. Responsibility for navigation and vessel operation remains with the skipper and crew on board.
Working Method
My analysis is based on multiple weather models, sea state forecasts and current information. I combine these data with practical experience from previous deliveries, regatta work and tactical sailing, together with my professional background in aviation and meteorology.
The aim is a clear and factual assessment of the situation – without dramatization and without unnecessary complexity. The crew receives structured options and concrete recommendations that can be applied immediately.
